Description: GALA is a 30 amino acid synthetic peptide with a glutamic acid-alanine-leucine-alanine (EALA) repeat. It also contains a histidine and tryptophan residue as spectroscopic probes. This peptide was designed to explore how viral fusion protein sequences interact with membranes. It was used to study the importance of the helix length, hydrophobicity, and hydrophobic moment on the formation, structure, and function of ion channels. The membrane-interacting properties of GALA have been extensively documented. Investigations with analogs of cytotoxic peptides clarify the importance of peptide charge and the role of particular amino acids or arrays of amino acids in the conformation, membrane-binding affinity, and pore-forming abilities of these toxins.

Description: This peptide is a C-terminal surface sorting signal with a conserved LPXTG motif, labeled with the Dabcyl/Edans FRET pair. Sortase cleaves surface proteins at the LPXTG motif and catalyzes the formation of an amide bond between the carboxyl group of threonine and the amino group of cell-wall crossbridges. Sortases are a family of Gram-positive transpeptidases responsible for anchoring surface protein virulence factors to the peptidoglycan cell wall layer. Surface proteins of Staphylococcus aureus are anchored to the bacterial cell wall by a mechanism requiring this C-terminal sorting signal. Cell wall sorting is the covalent attachment of surface proteins to the peptidoglycan via a C-terminal sorting signal that contains a consensus LPXTG sequence. Cleavage of this FRET substrate by sortase reveals the fluorescent signal that may be measured to study sortase activity. Inhibition of the sortase activity is a potential way of treatment of the staphylococcal infection. The LPXTG motif is conserved in more than 100 surface proteins of Gram-positive pathogens.

Description: This peptide is histone H3 (1-21) with deimination at Arg17, converting it to Cit (Citrulline). It is biotinylated through a C-terminal GGK linker. Deimination by peptidyl arginine deiminase 4 (PADI4) blocks methylation by the CARM1 methyltransferase and inhibits transcriptional activation. Provided at >95% peptide purity, this peptide was dissolved in distilled water at 1 mg/ml and re-lyophilized to powder form.

Description: C-peptide is cleaved from proinsulin, stored in secretory granules, and eventually released into the bloodstream in amounts equimolar with those of insulin. The measurement of the C-peptide is an important test for the beta-cell function. In the red blood cells of type 2 diabetic patients, Na+,K+ ATPase activity is strongly related to blood C-peptide levels. C-peptide signal transduction in human renal tubular cells involves the activation of phospholipase C and PKC-delta and PKC-varepsilon, as well as RhoA, followed by phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and JNK and a parallel activation of Akt. C-peptide shows specific binding to a G-protein-coupled membrane binding site, resulting in Ca2+ influx, activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase signalling pathways and stimulation of Na+, K+ ATPase and endothelial nitric oxide synthase.

Description: This glycopeptide is an N-acetyl galactosamine (GalNAc)-modified MUC5AC mucin peptide containing the single site of threonine 13 labeled with GalNAc (T*). Polypeptide N-acetylgalactosaminyltransferase (ppGaNTase) catalyzes the transfer of GalNAc from the nucleotide sugar UDP-GalNAc to threonine. The MUC5AC gene is mainly expressed in gastric and tracheo-bronchial mucosae, and some tumors.

Description: This peptide is histone H4, amino acids 1 to 21. It is acetylated at Lys-8 and at the N-terminus with a C-terminus GG linker, followed by a biotinylated lysine. Description: This modified gp100 peptide amino acids 209 to 217 is a MHC-associated HLA-A2.1-restricted epitope derived from melanoma antigen. It can be processed, presented, and recognized by T cells. Description: Despite the availability of alternative amine-reactive fluorescein derivatives that yield conjugates with superior stability and comparable spectra, fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) remains one of the most popular fluorescent labeling reagents, probably due to the low cost of the material. 5-FITC and 6-FITC have very similar absorption and fluorescence spectra. However, the isomers may differ in their binding and reactivities to proteins, and the conjugates may elute under different chromatographic conditions or migrate differently in electrophoretic gels. Thus, we offer highly purified single isomers. It appears that 5-FITC is more widely used than the 6-FITC isomer. FITC reagents are prominently used to label proteins. In addition, FITC has also been used to label peptides, oligonucleotides and other small organic ligands. A collection of recent applications is listed in the following references.
