Description: CREBBP is involved in the transcriptional coactivation of many different transcription factors. First isolated as a nuclear protein that binds to cAMP-response element binding protein (CREB), this gene is now known to play critical roles in embryonic development, growth control, and homeostasis by coupling chromatin remodeling to transcription factor recognition. CREBBP has intrinsic histone acetyltransferase activity and also acts as a scaffold to stabilize additional protein interactions with the transcription complex. This protein acetylates both histone and non-histone proteins. This protein shares regions of very high sequence similarity with protein p300 in its bromodomain, cysteine-histidine-rich regions, and histone acetyltransferase domain.

Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Leupeptin is a modified tripeptide reversible protease inhibitor of trypsin-like proteases and some cysteine proteases including endoproteinase Lys-C, kallikrein, papain, thrombin, cathepsin B, cathepsins H and L, trypsin, calpain, trypsin8 and plasmin. Effective concentration is typically 10-100 uM. Little to no inhibition is seen against pepsin, cathepsins A and D and alpha-chymotrypsin. When adjusted for molarity, all three salt forms are equally effective; however, the hydrochloride salt is usually less invasive in biological settings.

Supplier: Prosci
Description: SCARA5 Antibody: Scavenger receptor class A member 5 (SCARA5), also known as TESR, is part of the scavenger receptor superfamily, which is composed of many members with diverse structures, expression patterns, and functions. SCARA5 is a cell-surface receptor that contains the collagen-like domain and N-terminal scavenger receptor cysteine rich domain typical of the class A scavenger receptor subfamily. Unlike other class A receptors, SCARA5 does not endocytose acetylated or oxidized low density lipoprotein. Instead, SCARA5 binds serum ferritin and mediates its endocytosis from the cell surface, indicating SCARA5 may play a role in non-transferrin iron delivery.

Supplier: Thermo Scientific Chemicals
Description: A melatonin receptor antagonist

Supplier: Adipogen
Description: Potent, competitive and reversible cysteine, serine and threonine protease inhibitor. Inhibits calpain, kallikrein, trypsin, plasmin, papain and cathepsin B. Does not inhibit pepsin, elastase, renin, cathepsins A and D, thrombin or alpha-chymotrypsin. Used to protect against hearing loss caused by acoustic overstimulation or the ototoxic antibiotic gentamicin. Shown to inhibit activation-induced programmed cell death. Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. Widely used as a protein purification tool to prevent proteases present in tissue samples from degrading the protein of interest.

Supplier: Enzo Life Sciences
Description: Competitive melatonin receptor antagonist.

Description: A modified tripeptide reversible protease inhibitor of trypsin-like proteases and some cysteine proteases including endoproteinase Lys-C, kallikrein, papain, thrombin, cathepsin B, cathepsins H and L, trypsin, calpain, trypsin and plasmin. Little to no inhibition is seen against pepsin, cathepsins A and D and alpha-chymotrypsin. When adjusted for molarity, all three salt forms are equally effective; however, the hydrochloride salt is usually less invasive in biological settings. Leupeptin, because of its aldehyde group, may act as a reducing agent and therefore interfere in protein determinations such as Lowry and, to a lesser extent, Bradford.

Catalog Number: (75929-936)
Supplier: Rockland Immunochemical
Description: MGMT or O-6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase is the major mutagenic and carcinogenic lesion in DNA induced by simple alkylating mutagens. The methylation of the MGMT promoter in gliomas is a useful predictor of the responsiveness of the tumors to alkylating agents (1). The clinical trial substantiates the predictive value of O-6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase promoter methylation in glioblastoma patients treated with temozolomide (2). Methylation of the MGMT promoter in tumors is associated with longer survival in glioblastoma patients. MGMT Protein is ideal for investigators involved in Signaling Proteins, Acetyl/Methyltransferase Proteins, Apoptosis/Autophagy, Cancer, Cell Cycle, and Neurobiology research.

Pyruvic acid is an intermediate in sugar metabolism and in enzymatic carbohydrate degradation (alcoholic fermentation) where it is converted to acetaldehyde and CO2 by carboxylase. In muscle, pyruvic acid (derived from glycogen) is reduced to lactic acid during exertion, which is reoxidized and partially retransformed to glycogen during rest. It improves coliform recovery when present in culture medium. It is involved in a metabolic regulatory pathway activated by mitochondrial oxidants. Pyruvate is involved in respiratory regulation in plants by interacting with alternative oxidase at a conserved cysteine residue. It may help prevent hydrogen peroxide mediated cell death.
Sodium pyruvate is utilized as a component in culture broth and media. Sodium pyruvate is used in Wallen fermentation medium to enhance the conversion of oleic acid to 10-ketostearic acid by Bacillus sphaericus. Sodium pyruvate has also been used to establish stably transfected human B cell lines.
Sodium Pyruvate has shown antioxidant properties and protective effects against oxygen radicals. Pyruvate is produced as part of glycolysis and is an intermediate in many metabolic pathways. It can be converted into acetyl CoA and enter the TCA Cycle.
