Description: BANP Antibody: BANP was initially identified as a binding protein to BTG3 in a yeast two-hybrid screen. BANP acts as a tumor suppressor by stabilizing p53 expression and leading to cell cycle arrest. p53 in turn binds to upstream elements of the BANP promoter, thereby forming a feedback loop. BANP is down-regulated in advanced stages of human breast cancer, and its overexpression in breast cancer cell lines inhibits their ability to metastasize by modulating TGF-beta signaling. Furthermore, BANP can modulate NF-kappa B transactivation and can inhibit tumorigenesis by regulating NF-kappa B target genes. Recent experiments have shown that BANP can also repress HIV-1 LTR mediated transcription by tethering the LTR matrix attachment region to nuclear matrix.

Description: Huntington's disease (HD), a neurodegenerative disorder characterized by loss of striatal neurons, is caused by an expansion of a polyglutamine tract in the HD protein huntingtin. HAP1 was initially identified through a two-hybrid library screening; the binding of HAP1 to huntingtin correlated with the expansion of the polyglutamine tract. HAP1 also interacts with two cytoskeletal proteins (dynactin and pericentriolar autoantigen protein 1), suggesting that HAP1 may play a role in vesicular trafficking or organelle transport. HAP1 is also involved with the huntingtin-enhanced BDNF transport along the cellular microtubles. Attenuation of this process led to the loss of neurotrophic support and neuronal toxicity, which suggests that loss of this function might contribute to pathogenesis. Several alternatively spliced isoforms have been described for HAP1.

Description: The signaling lymphocyte-activation molecule family member 3 (SLAMF3), also known as LY9, is a cell surface receptor that is expressed on T and B lymphocytes and belongs to the CD150/SLAMF1 receptor family. SLAMF3 was identified through a yeast two-hybrid screening in which SLAMF3 bound to the X-linked lymphoproliferative disease gene product SAP, suggesting that in activated T cells, SLAMF3 signaling can be triggered SAP. Its expression on the cell surface appears to be regulated via its interaction with the clathrin-associated adaptor complex 2 (AP-2). Despite its similarity to SLAMF1 in structure and interactions with SAP, SLAMF3-deficient mice do not exhibit phenotypic characteristics associated with SLAMF1- and SAP-deficient mice, suggesting that SLAMF3 plays other roles in T cell activation.

Other studies indicate that Hax1-mediated processing of HtrA2 (also known as Omi) by the mitochondrial protease PARL allows survival of lymphocytes and neurons when cytokines are limiting. At least four isoforms of Hax1 are known to exist. This antibody is expected to recognize the longest isoform (Hax1a) as well as the shortest.
