Catalog Number: (89139-556)
Supplier: Biotium
Description: 6-FAM, SE (full name: 6-Carboxyfluorescein, succinimidyl ester, single isomer) is the amine-reactive form of 6-carboxyfluorescein single isomer.
6-FAM SE is an amine-reactive green fluorescent dye widely used for labeling oligonucleotides or other biomolecules that contain a primary or secondary aliphatic amine. The coupling reaction is usually carried out at pH 8-9.5.

Supplier: Adipogen
Description: Popular green fluorescent cell-permeable dye. Covalently couples via its succinimidyl group to intracellular molecules. The amine-reactive succinimidyl ester of 5-FAM acid is a common fluorescent derivatization reagent for covalently labeling peptides, proteins and nucleotides. Due to this covalent coupling reaction it can be retained within cells for extremely long periods and due to this stable linkage, once incorporated within cells the dye is not transferred to adjacent cells. Yields carboxyamides which are more resistant to hydrolysis than fluorescein conjugates prepared with FITC. Better retained in cells than fluorescein. Used in fluorescent small molecule preparations. Spectral data: lambdaex 494 nm| lambdaem 520 nm (Buffer pH 9.0).

Catalog Number: (89139-558)
Supplier: Biotium
Description: 5(6)-FAM SE (full name: 5-(and-6)-Carboxyfluorescein, succinimidyl ester mixed isomers) is an amine-reactive green fluorescent dye widely used for labeling proteins or other molecules that contain a primary or secondary aliphatic amine. The coupling reaction is usually carried out at pH 8-9.5. The amide linkage from the coupling reaction is much more stable than the thiourea linkage formed from the coupling of an amine and an isothiocyanate.

Supplier: Invitrogen
Description: NHS fluorescein [(5/6-carboxyfluorescein succinimidyl ester), mixed isomer] is an amine reactive derivative of fluorescein dye for antibodies and other probes in fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, and immunofluorescence based assays such as western blotting and ELISA.
Supplier: Anaspec Inc
Description: Although FITC reagents have been more often used to prepare fluoresceinated bioconjugates, the low stability of FITC bioconjugates makes some researchers use amine-reactive succinimidyl esters of carboxyfluorescein (commonly called FAM) in bioconjugations. FAM reagents give carboxamides that are more resistant to hydrolysis. We have shown that FAM reagents require less stringent reaction conditions and give better conjugation yields, and the resulted conjugates have superior stability. We noted that FITC labeled peptides tend to deteriorate more quickly than the corresponding FAM conjugates.
