Description: Hexanucleotide (GGGGCC) repeat expansions in a noncoding region of C9ORF72 are the major genetic cause of FTD and ALS (c9FTD/ALS). The RNA structure of GGGGCC repeats renders these transcripts susceptible to an unconventional mechanism of translation - repeat associated non-ATG (RAN) translation. Translation of the GGGGCC-repeat in all reading frames would result in three dipeptide-repeat (DPR) proteins poly-(Gly-Ala), poly-(Gly-Pro) and poly-(Gly-Arg). poly-GA and poly-GP proteins are extremely hydrophobic and may form intracellular aggregates

Description: This pro-apoptotic peptide, also called (klaklak)2, is a programmed cell-death inducing peptide, non toxic outside cells, but toxic once internalized, as it disrupts mitochondiral membranes. It is linked to a targeting domain (NGR), which drives the peptide to target cells and allows its internalization. It contains the Asn-Gly-Arg (NGR) motif which was shown to allow the delivery of anti-tumor compounds to tumor vessels.

Description: The sequence APRTPGGRR contains a native sequence derived from bovine myelin basic protein amino acids 95-98 (PRTP). The rest of the sequence is not derived from a native sequence, but is a synthetic construct. This substrate is specific for MAP kinases: p44MAPK [extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1 (ERK1)] and p42MAPK (ERK2). It contains the consensus sequence Pro-X-(Ser/Thr)-Pro that is recognized by MAP kinase. This peptide is the most efficient substrate for phosphorylation reaction by ERK. The substrate is phosphorylated by kinases on threonine 97 and can also be phosphorylated by MAPK p38.

Description: Ghrelin is an endogenous ligand for the growth hormone secretagogue receptor and is involved in regulating growth hormone release. Ghrelin is derived from a preprohormone called preproghrelin, which also generates a second peptide called obestatin. Obestatin is an endogenous ligand for the orphan G protein-coupled receptor GPR39 and is involved in satiety and decreased food intake. Also known as Appetite regulating hormone; GHRL; Growth hormone releasing peptide; Growth hormone secretagogue; M46 protein; Motilin related peptide; MTLRP; Obestatin; Obestatin preprohormone; PRO1066; UNQ524.
