Supplier: Spectrum Chemicals
Description: Silica Gel, Grade 60, 60-200 Micron, 60A is a form of silicon dioxide made from sodium silicate. It is granular and porous solid and is a naturally occurring mineral. It is often used as a desiccant to control humidity and avoid spoilage.
Catalog Number: (700001-876)
Supplier: Spectrum Chemicals
Description: Aluminum Silicate is a mixture of that is composed of aluminum, silica, and oxygen. Aluminum silicate can either be a mineral or combined with water to form a clay. These forms are used in many different industries and medicinally. When it is combined with water it creates a clay that is commonly used to treat diaper rash and diarrhea. When aluminum silicate is combined with magnesium and hydrated the resulting clay is used to make antacids and as a thickener for cosmetics and other beauty products. Ungraded products supplied by Spectrum are indicative of a grade suitable for general industrial use or research purposes and typically are not suitable for consumption. These materials may or may not have a Certificate of Analysis available

Description: Chicken Ovalbumin is the major protein in the white of the egg (and a favorite antigen in immunological research). Egg white contains a variety of proteins including ovalbumin, conalbumin, ovomucoi and lysozyme. It belonds to the serpin family and the Ov serpin subfamily. Ovalbumin can cause an allergic reaction in humans. Ovalbumin has been implicated in the development of the egg shell. Immunohistochemistry revealed that ovalbumin is found only in the mammillary bodies of decalcified shell, and is not distributed throughout the shell matrix. These results indicate that ovalbumin is present during the initial phase of shell formation and becomes incorporated into the protein matrix of the mammillary bodies. However, it is not yet clear wheather ovalbumin at this site plays a specific role in shell mineralization.

Supplier: Prosci
Description: Secreted Phosphoprotein 1 (SPP1) is a secreted multifunctional glycoprotein. Its putative functions include roles in bone metabolism, immune regulation, wound healing, cell survival, and tumor progression. Based on gene structure and chromosomal location, SPP1 is a member of the small integrin-binding ligand N-linked glycoprotein (SIBLING) family that also includes bone sialoprotein (BSP), dentin matrix protein 1 (DMP1), dentin sialophosphoprotein (DSPP), enamelin (ENAM), and matrix extracellular phosphoglycoprotein (MEPE). SPP1 is expressed in bone, although it is also expressed in other tissues. SPP1 acts as a cytokine that is involved in enhancing production of interferon-gamma and interleukin-12 and reducing production of interleukin-10. It is essential in the pathway that leads to type I immunity. Osteopontin has been implicated as an important factor in bone remodeling. Specifically, research suggests it plays a role in anchoring osteoclasts to the mineral matrix of bones. The fact that SPP1 interacts with multiple cell surface receptors which are ubiquitously expressed makes it an active player in many physiological and pathological processes including wound healing, bone turnover, tumorigenesis, inflammation and ischemia. Therefore, manipulation of plasma Osteopontin levels may be useful in the treatment of autoimmune diseases, cancer metastasis, osteoporosis and some forms of stress.

Description: Petroleum Ether, B.R. 100 DEG -140 DEG C is obtained from petroleum refineries as the portion of the distillate which is intermediate between the lighter naphtha and the heavier kerosene. Petroleum ether is mostly used by pharmaceutical companies and in the manufacturing process.

Supplier: Affymetrix, Inc.
Description: The human Osteopontin ELISA is an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative detection of human Osteopontin. The human Osteopontin ELISA is for research use only. Not for diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Osteopontin (OPN) is is a highly phosphorylated sialoprotein that is a prominent component of the mineralized extracellular matrices of bones and teeth. The protein is highly phosphorylated and glycosylated. The nascent protein has a size of 33 kDa; after posttranslational modifications its molecular weight increases to 44 kDa. A non phosphorylated form of OPN is produced by normal rat kidney cells. It is also found in urine, where it inhibits kidney stone formation. Additionally OPN is expressed by various tissues, such as bone, teeth, endometrial and epithelial tissues, and also macrophages, different types of tumors, T cells and smooth muscle cells. OPN is able to influence bone homeostasis by promoting differentiation of osteoclasts or by enhancing osteoclast activity. OPN protects against apoptosis and induces survival and proliferation in several cell types. OPN is also associated with tumor genesis. Because of its ability to interact with multiple cell surface receptors, OPN plays a major role in many physiological and pathological pathways including wound healing, tumor genesis, inflammation, bone turnover and immune responses. Therefore the manipulation of plasma OPN levels is useful in the treatment of cancer metastasis, osteoporosis and autoimmune diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis.
