Supplier: Bioss
Description: Luciferase from the firefly has become one of the more widely used reporter proteins for the study of gene expression. Luciferase catalyzes a bioluminescent reaction which requires the substrate luciferin as well as Mg2+ and ATP. Mixing these reagents with the cell extract containing luciferase, results in a flash of light that decays rapidly. This light can be detected by a luminometer. The total light emission is proportional to the luciferase activity of the sample.

Description: Tweens® are a series of nonionic surfactants derived from sorbitan esters. They are soluble or dispersible in water but differ widely in organic and oil solubilities. Used as oil-in-water emulsifiers in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, cleaning compounds, etc.
Tween® 80 has been widely used in biochemical applications including: solubilizing proteins, isolating nuclei from cells in culture selective protein extraction growing of tubercule bacilli, and emulsifying and dispersing substances in medicinal and food products. It has little or no activity as an anti-bacterial agent. It has been shown to have an adverse effect on the antibacterial effect of methyl paraben and related compounds. Non-ionic detergent used for selective protein extraction and isolation of nuclei from mammalian cell lines.
Soluble/miscible in water to give a clear yellow solution; miscible with alcohol, dioxane, and ethyl acetate; practically insoluble in liquid paraffin and fixed oils (such as mineral oil).
Autoclaving of solutions is not recommended. Sterile filtering is suggested with a 0.22 micron filter. Tween® may need to be warmed to about 40 °C and alternated with portions of hot distilled water while being poured through the filter.
Store at Room Temperature (15-30 °C).

Description: Multiple isoelectric variants of calponin have been identified, however only two molecular weight isoforms exist; a 34kDa form and a 29kDa form. Expression of the 29kDa form, I-calponin, is primarily restricted to muscle of the urogenital tract, whereas the higher molecular weight variant has been demonstrated in vascular and visceral smooth muscle. In Western blotting, this mAb reacts with only the 34kDa form of calponin in extracts of human aortic medial smooth muscle and is unreactive with fibroblast extracts of cultivated human foreskin. Calponin is a calmodulin, F-actin and tropomyosin binding protein, which is thought to be involved in the regulation of smooth muscle contraction. Calponin expression is restricted to smooth muscle cells and has been shown to be a marker of the differentiated (contractile) phenotype of developing smooth muscle.

Supplier: Biotium
Description: This antibody recognizes a protein of 150 kDa, which is identified as the high molecular weight variant of Caldesmon. Two closely related variants of human caldesmon have been identified which are different in their electrophoretic mobility and cellular distribution. The h-caldesmon variant (120-150 kDa) is predominantly expressed in smooth muscle whereas l-caldesmon (70-80 kDa) is found in non- muscle tissue and cells. Neither of the two variants has been detected in skeletal muscle. This MAb This antibody recognizes only the 150 kDa variant (h-caldesmon) in Western blots of human aortic media extracts and is unreactive with fibroblast extracts from cultivated human foreskin. Caldesmon is a developmentally regulated protein involved in smooth muscle and non-muscle contraction.

CF® dyes are Biotium's next-generation fluorescent dyes. CF®488A is a green fluorescent dye (Ex/Em 490/515 nm) with excellent brightness and photostability. The dye is minimally charged for less non-specific binding. CF®488A also is compatible with super-resolution imaging by TIRF.

Description: USP11(Ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase 11), also named as UHX1, is a deubiquitinating enzyme controling many intracellular processes, including cell cycle progression, transcriptional activation, and signal transduction. There are four bands of 120 kDa, 55 kDa, 50 kDa and 44 kDa to be detected in HeLa extract by western blot and the smaller proteins may be degradation products, some other spliced products could possibly correspond to the smaller proteins and possess functions. This protein belongs to the peptidase C19 family.

Description: This gene encodes a member of the bone morphogenetic protein family which is part of the transforming growth factor-beta superfamily. The superfamily includes large families of growth and differentiation factors. Bone morphogenetic proteins were originally identified by an ability of demineralized bone extract to induce endochondral osteogenesis in vivo in an extraskeletal site. These proteins are synthesized as prepropeptides, cleaved, and then processed into dimeric proteins. This protein may act as an important signaling molecule within the trabecular meshwork and optic nerve head, and may play a potential role in glaucoma pathogenesis. This gene is differentially regulated during the formation of various tumors. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008].

Description: Cellulose Acetate (CA) membranes are a general purpose filter ideal for microbiological applications, filtration of enzyme solutions, diagnostic cytology, or receptor binding studies. CA membranes are low protein binding and have low aqueous extractables (0.1%wt). CA offers improved solvent resistance to low molecular weight alcohols, better heat resistance up to 180 °C and may be repeatedly autoclaved without loss of integrity.
