Catalog Number: (IC10210101)
Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: IPTG (isopropyl-β-thiogalactoside) is an analogue of allolactose that binds specifically to the repressor protein of the lac operon and induces expression of β-galactosidase in Escherichia coli.
IPTG is a commonly used reagent in cloning procedures that require induction of b-galactosidase activity and is used in conjunction with X-Gal in blue-white color selection of recombinant bacterial colonies.
The final concentration typically used in indicator plates is 0.2 mM.

Supplier: CUBE BIOTECH
Description: IPTG is a modified sugar that can be used to induce protein expression under the control of the lacUV promotor. Our IPTG is of highest quality and purity. Like allolactose, IPTG binds to the lac repressor and releases the tetrameric repressor from the lac operator in an allosteric manner, thereby allowing the transcription of genes in the lac operon. But unlike allolactose, the sulfur (S) atom creates a chemical bond which is non-hydrolyzable by the cell, preventing the cell from metabolizing or degrading the inducer. The concentration of IPTG therefore remains constant and the expression of lac p/o-controlled genes would not be inhibited during the experiment.

Catalog Number: (99901-500)
Supplier: Agilent Technologies
Description: IPTG is for use in combination with X-gal to detect β-galactosidase activity in blue/white selection assays.

SDS

Supplier: MP Biomedicals
Description: Isopropyl b-D-1-thiogalactopyranoside is a non-metabolizable galactose analog that induces expression of the lac operon in Escherichia coli. It functions by binding to the lac repressor and altering its conformation. This inactivation prevents the repression of the b-galactosidase coding lac gene.

Catalog Number: (PI34060)
Supplier: Invitrogen
Description: Thermo Scientific Pierce IPTG is isopropyl-β-D-thiogalactopyranoside for use with beta-galactosidase substrates such as X-Gal to detect expression of vectors, plasmids, or DNA fragments that contain the reporter gene.

Supplier: IBI Scientific
Description: IPTG is an inducer of β-galactosidase activity in E.coli. It is commonly used in conjunction with X-GAL to detect lac gene expression in cloning applications, thus allowing detection of recombinant molecules.

Catalog Number: (490005-954)
Supplier: MERIDIAN LIFE SCICNE, INC BE
Description: Isopropyl-D-thiogalactopyranoside (IPTG) is a chemical analogue of galactose, which cannot be hydrolyzed by the enzyme --Galactosidase. Hence, it induces the E. coli lac operon activity by binding and inhibiting the lac repressor without being degraded.

Description: Sequence: Isopropyl-1-thio-β-D-galactopyranoside (dioxane free)

Supplier: Adipogen
Description: Molecular biology reagent. beta-Galactosidase activity inducer in several bacteria, by binding and inhibiting the lac repressor. Used in gene cloning together with X-Gal (Prod. No. AG-CC1-0003), in a technique called blue/white screening. Distinguishes between recombinant and non-recombinant plasmids carrying the beta-galactosidase gene. Plant origin, contains no animal-derived contaminants. Stimulates beta-galactosidase in cellular systems in which dioxane would disrupt normal cell function.
