Description: Vimentin is the major protein subunit of the 10nm or intermediate filaments (IFs) found in many kinds of mesenchymal and epithelial cells as well as developing neuronal and astrocytic precursor cells in the CNS. Vimentin is thought to be critically involved in lymphocyte adhesion and transmigration. Copolymers are frequently formed between vimentin and other IFs, such as GFAP (in many kinds of astrocytes), desmin (in muscle cells) and neurofilament proteins (in developing neurons). Antibodies to vimentin are useful in studies of stem cells and generally to reveal the filamentous cytoskeleton. Recent studies suggest that vimentin affects prostate cancer cells motility and invasiveness. Vimentin Antibody is ideal for researchers interested in neuroscience research.

Description: USP10, also known as ubiquitin specific peptidase 10, belongs to the ubiquitin-specific protease family of cysteine proteases. USP10 functions to catalyze the cleavage of ubiquitin from ubiquitin-conjugated protein substrates such as p53/TP53, SNX3 and CFTR. USP10 has been identified as a subunit of DNA-bound androgen receptor (AR) complexes and may play a role in the activity of the DNA-bound androgen receptor complex. USP10 also acts as an essential regulator of p53/TP53 stability and is thought to function as a tumor suppressor.

Description: Upregulated obese product 11 (UROP11) was isolated from subtractive library for mouse hypothalamus. It is detected in numerous tissues and is upregulated in the hypothalamus and adipocytes in obese mice. UROP11 is also observed in human neural and lymphoid tissues; its expression appears to be regulated by the level of lymphoid activation. Urop11 expression is strongly upregulated both in vivo in mouse hypothalamus and in vitro in mouse neural cell lines after treatment with leptin, indicating Urop11 is a target of leptin activity and thus may play a role in obesity.

Description: XIRP1 is a member of the Xin family of proteins, containing 16 Xin repeats. The intercalated disk protein Xin protects actin filaments from depolymerization, and is able to bundle actin filaments to interact with β-catenin, which is thought to stabilize actin-based cytoskeletons. The evolutionary emergence of the Xin paralogs may have played a key role in the development of heart chambers with complete endothelial and myocardial layers. Loss of mXinα (mouse Xin homolog) results in cardiac hypertrophy and cardiomyopathy. Phosphorylation of Ser295 is thought to play a key role in XIRP signaling. Xin Actin-Binding Repeat Containing Protein 1 pS295 Antibody is ideal for researchers interested in cell cycle research.

Description: XAF-1 binds to XIAP, an inhibitor of caspases-3, -7, and -9, and triggers its relocation from the cytosol to the nucleus. Overexpression of XAF-1 results in the neutralization of XIAP's ability to inhibit cell death. XAF-1 is normally expressed in all adult and fetal tissues but was found to be present in very low levels in a variety of cancer cell lines. In contrast, XIAP levels have been shown to be high in a majority of cell lines. Low XAF-1 and high basal expression of XIAP may therefore play a critical role in maintaining survival of cancer cell lines. Both IFN-alpha2 and IFN-beta can induce XAF-1 mRNA in all cells examined but induction of XAF-1 protein (as observed by immunoblot analysis) was seen only in cell lines sensitive to the apoptotic effects of IFNs.

Description: Vinculin is a cytoskeletal protein that plays an important role in the regulation of focal adhesions and embryonic development (1). Three structural vinculin domains include an amino-terminal head, a short flexible proline-rich region and a carboxy-terminal tail (2). Expression of vinculin were shown to be affected by the level of actin expression (2,3). Vinculin deficiencies are associated with a decrease in cell adhesion and an increase in cell motility, suggesting a possible role in metastatic growth (4). Defects in VCL are the cause of cardiomyopathy dilated type 1W (CMD1W) (5).

Description: WD40 repeats are a common structural module in eukaryotic proteins, and proteins containing WD40 domains have a wide range of functions, including signal transduction, cell cycle regulation, RNA splicing, and transcription. One such protein, WDR35, also known as CED2, has been shown to be mutated in patients with Sensenbrenner syndrome/cranioectodermal dysplasia (CED), an autosomal-recessive disease that is characterized by craniosynstosis and ectodermal and skeletal abnormalities. WDR35 localizes to cilia and dentrosomes during embryogenesis and human and mouse fibroblasts that lack this gene fail to produce cilia. Mutations in this gene can also cause short-rib polydactyly syndromes due to abnormal ciliogenesis.

Description: Two distinct signaling pathways activate the host innate immunity against viral infection. One pathway is reliant on members of the Toll-like receptor (TLR) family while the other uses the RNA helicase RIG-I as a receptor for intracellular viral double-stranded RNA as a trigger for the immune response. VISA is a mitochondrial membrane protein that was identified as a critical component in the IFN-b signaling pathways that recruits IRF-3 to RIG-I, leading to its activation and that of NF-kB. VISA is also thought to interact with other components of the innate immune pathway such as the TLR adapter protein TRIF, TRAF2 and TRAF6. VISA also interacts with the IKKa, IKKb and IKKe kinases through its C-terminal region. Cleavage of this region by the Hepatitis C virus (HCV) protease allows HCV to escape the host immune system. At least three isoforms of VISA are known to exist.

Description: WD repeat proteins play a role in many essential biologic functions, regulating the assembly of multiprotein complexes by presenting a beta-propeller platform for simultaneous and reversible protein-protein interactions. WIPI2, also known as ATG18B or ATG21, is a human homolog to yeast ATG18 and contains three WD repeats and has a 7-bladed propeller structure with a conserved motif that facilitates its interaction with other proteins. It is recruited to early autophagosomal structures along with Atg16L and ULK1 and is required for the formation of LC3-positive autophagosomes. Along with the highly related WIPI1, WIPI2 is found at the plasma membrane in addition to autophagosomal membranes.

Description: The pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-1 induced cellular response requires IL-1 receptor complex including IL-1RI and IL-1RAcP. Recently, MyD88 was identified as an adapter molecule in the IL-1 signaling pathway. MyD88 associates with and recruits IRAK to the IL-1 receptor complex in response to IL-1 treatment and dominant negative form of MyD88 attenuates IL-1R-mediated NF-kB activation. MyD88 is also employed as a regulator molecule by IL-18 receptor and human Toll receptor, which are members in the Toll/IL-1R family of receptors. Targeted disruption of the MyD88 gene results in lose of cellular responses to IL-1 and IL-18, and MyD88-deficient mice lack responses to bacterial product LPS that employs Toll-like receptors 2 and 4 (TLR2 and TLR4) as the signaling receptors. MyD88 is a general adapter protein for the Toll/IL-1R family of receptors and plays an important role in the inflammatory response induced by cytokines IL-1 and IL-18 and endotoxin. MyD88 gene is expressed in many tissues.

Description: MettL7B belongs to the methyltransferase superfamily. It is a probable methyltransferase. Methyltransferase is a type of transferase enzyme which transfers a methyl group from a donor to an acceptor. Often methylation occurs on nucleic bases in DNA or amino acids in protein structures. DNA methylation is often utilized to silence and regulate genes without changing the original DNA sequence. DNA methylation may be necessary for normal growth from embryonic stages in mammals. When mutant embryonic stem cells lacking the murine DNA methyltransferase gene were introduced to a germline of mice they caused a recessive lethal phenotype. Methylation may also be linked to cancer development as methylation of tumor suppressor genes promotes tumorgenesis and metastasis.
