Description: Equilibrative nucleoside transporters (ENTs) regulate many physiological processes and are widely distributed in mammals, plants, yeasts, insects, nematodes and protozoans. They enable facilitated diffusion of hydrophilic nucleosides, such as adenosine and nucleoside analogs, across cell membranes. ENTs are required for uptake of antiviral and anticancer nucleoside drugs and influence a variety of physiological processes, such as neurotransmission and platelet aggregation, by regulating the amount of adenoside available to cell surface receptors. Equilibrative nucleoside transporter 1 (ENT1), also designated solute carrier family 29 (nucleoside transporters), member 1, belongs to the SLC29A transporter family and is a mammalian ENT isoform. ENT1, along with ENT3, mediates the majority of influx and efflux of nucleosides across the plasma membrane.

Description: SLC11A1 is a member of the solute carrier family 11 (proton-coupled divalent metal ion transporters) family and is a multi-pass membrane protein. The protein functions as a divalent transition metal (iron and manganese) transporter involved in iron metabolism and host resistance to certain pathogens. Mutations in its gene have been associated with susceptibility to infectious diseases such as tuberculosis and leprosy, and inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn disease.

Description: The Golgi complex is a key organelle where processing and sorting of newly synthesized proteins occurs. Membrane traffic from the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) to the Golgi complex and from the Golgi complex to the different final cellular destinations is believed to be mediated by carrier vesicles. Two populations of coated vesicles mediate biosynthetic membrane traffic between the different membrane-bound compartments. Clathrin-coated vesicles carry proteins to endocytic organelles and secretory granules, whilst non-clathrin-coated vesicles are involved in intra-Golgi transport and transport from the ER to the Golgi complex. Beta COP is a member of a set of protein which are believed to associate with the non-clathrin coated vesicles. Golgi-derived non-clathrin-coated vesicles are believed to act as bulk carriers, whereas clathrin-coated vesicles carry a selective cargo of membrane proteins.

Supplier: Bioss
Description: Mitoferrin 2, also known as MRS3/4 (mitochondrial RNA-splicing protein 3/4 homolog), mitochondrial iron transporter 2, NPD016, MRS4L or SLC25A28 (solute carrier family 25 member 28), is a 364 amino acid multi-pass membrane protein of the mitochondrial inner membrane that mediates iron uptake. Mitoferrin 2 is thought to play a role in heme synthesis of hemoproteins and iron-sulfur cluster assembly. Ubiquitously expressed, Mitoferrin 2 is found at high levels in skeletal muscle, heart, placenta, kidney, lung, liver, brain and pancreas. Mitoferrin 2 is a member of the mitochondrial carrier family and undergoes alternative splicing events to produce four isoforms. Mitoferrin 2 contains three solcar repeats and is encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 10q24.2.

Description: The solute carrier family 1 member 7 (SLC1A7) protein was initially identified as a glutamate transporter coupled to a chloride conductance that is expressed primarily in the retina. More recent evidence indicates that is it widely expressed in peripheral tissues, also. Experiments have shown that SLC1A7 functions as a low-affinity/low-capacity glutamate transport, with an anion channel optimized for anion conductance in the negative voltage range. In the retina, SLC1A7 co-localizes with the serum and glucocorticoid dependent kinase SGK1, and its cell surface expression and activity is regulated SGK1 and its isoform SGK3.
