Description: PMVK is a 192 amino acid peroxisomal enzyme belonging to the nucleoside monophosphate (NMP) kinase family and is expressed in heart, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney, and pancreas with lower expression in brain, placenta and lung. Induced by sterol, PMVK participates in isopentenyl diphosphate biosynthesis via the mevalonate pathway. PMVK catalyzes the conversion of mevalonate 5-phosphate into mevalonate 5-diphosphate in the fifth reaction of the cholesterol biosynthetic pathway. PMVK exists as a monomer and is encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 1, which houses over 3,000 genes and is the largest human chromosome spanning about 260 million base pairs and making up 8% of the human genome.

Description: CTTNBP2NL is a 639 amino acid protein that is encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 1p13.2. Chromosome 1 is the largest human chromosome spanning about 260 million base pairs and making up 8% of the human genome. There are about 3,000 genes on chromosome 1, and considering the great number of genes there are also a large number of diseases associated with chromosome 1. Notably, the rare aging disease Hutchinson-Gilford progeria is associated with the LMNA gene which encodes lamin A. When defective, the LMNA gene product can build up in the nucleus and cause characteristic nuclear blebs. The mechanism of rapidly enhanced aging is unclear and is a topic of continuing exploration. The MUTYH gene is located on chromosome 1 and is partially responsible for familial adenomatous polyposis. Stickler syndrome, Parkinsons, Gaucher disease and Usher syndrome are also associated with chromosome 1.

Description: ATP-binding cassette sub-family B member 5(ABCB5) is a plasma membrane-spanning protein. ABCB5 is principally expressed in physiological skin and human malignant melanoma. ABCB5 has been suggested to regulate skin progenitor cell fusion and mediate chemotherapeutic drug resistance in stem-like tumor cell subpopulations in human malignant melanoma. It is commonly over-expressed on circulating melanoma tumour cells. Furthermore, the ABCB5+ melanoma- initiating cells were demonstrated to express FLT1 (VEGFR1) receptor tyrosine kinase which was functionally required for efficient xenograft tumor formation, as demonstrated by shRNA knockdown experiments.

Description: SGCB is a member of the sarcoglycan family. Sarcoglycans are transmembrane components in the dystrophin-glycoprotein complex which help stabilize the muscle fiber membranes and link the muscle cytoskeleton to the extracellular matrix. The dystrophin-glycoprotein complex (DGC) is a multisubunit protein complex that spans the sarcolemma and provides structural linkage between the subsarcolemmal cytoskeleton and the extracellular matrix of muscle cells. There are 3 main subcomplexes of the DGC: the cytoplasmic proteins dystrophin (DMD; MIM 300377) and syntrophin (SNTA1; MIM 601017), the alpha- and beta-dystroglycans (see MIM 128239), and the sarcoglycans (see, e.g., SGCA; MIM 600119) (Crosbie et al., 2000 [PubMed 10942431]).

Description: The Annexins are a family of structurally similar proteins. Annexins bind to phospholipids and may be involved in regulation of membrane transport, membrane channel activity, and interaction of the cell membrane with the extracellular matrix. Annexin A7 is a member of the annexin family of calcium dependent phospholipid binding proteins. The Annexin A7 gene contains 14 exons and spans approximately 34 kb of DNA. Structural analysis of the protein suggests that Annexin A7 is a membrane binding protein with diverse properties including voltage sensitive calcium channel activity, ion selectivity and membrane fusion.

Description: CD6 is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that contains a 24-amino acid signal sequence, three extracellularscavenger receptor cysteine-rich(SRCR) domains, a membrane-spanning domain and a 44-amino acid cytoplasmic domain. The CD6 glycoprotein is tyrosine phosphorylated during TCR-mediated T cell activation. CD6 shows significant homology to CD5. CD6 is present on mature thymocytes, peripheral T cells and a subset of B cells. Antibodies to CD6 are used to deplete T cells from bone marrow transplants to prevent graft versus host disease.

Description: Poliovirus Receptor (PVR) is a 70 kDa type I transmembrane single-span glycoprotein that belongs to the nectin-like (Necl) family and was originally identified based on its ability to mediate the cell attachment and entry of poliovirus (PV), an etiologic agent of the central nervous system disease poliomyelitis. PVR contains three Ig-like extracellular domains, a transmembrane segment, and a cytoplasmic tail. The normal cellular function of PVR maybe the involvement of intercellular adhension between epithelial cells. Alternate splicing of the PVR mRNA yields four different isoforms ( alpha, beta , gamma , and delta) with identical extracellular domains.

Description: This antibody recognizes a 27 kDa protein, identified as the p27Kip1, a cell cycle regulatory mitotic inhibitor. Its epitope spans between aa 83-204 of p27. It is highly specific and shows no cross-reaction with other related mitotic inhibitors. p27Kip1 functions as a negative regulator of G1 progression and has been proposed to function as a possible mediator of TGF- induced G1 arrest. p27Kip1 is a candidate tumor suppressor gene. This MAb co-precipitates cdk4 in complex p27Kip1 and is excellent for staining of formalin-fixed tissues.

Description: This gene encodes a high affinity receptor for the peptide hormone calcitonin and belongs to a subfamily of seven transmembrane-spanning G protein-coupled receptors. The encoded protein is involved in maintaining calcium homeostasis and in regulating osteoclast-mediated bone resorption. Polymorphisms in this gene have been associated with variations in bone mineral density and onset of osteoporosis. Alternate splicing results in multiple transcript variants. Description: Non-ionic water-soluble detergent with nondenaturing properties. Transparent in the UV region. Relatively high critical micelle concentration (CMC) value (79mM/l). Ideal for studying the conformation and function of proteins, keeping the secondary and tertiary structure intact, therefore suited for solubilizing membrane proteins without altering biological activity. Efficiently separates hydrophilic proteins from membrane spanning, hydrophobic proteins. Ideal for use as membrane protein solubilizer.

Description: MRP5 (190-200 kDa) is closely related to MRP4, both lacking the first five membrane spanning regions. MRP5 is a GS-X multi specific organic anion pump (nucleotide analogs). MRP5 may transport DNP-GS and may be inhibited by certain inhibitors of organic anion transport (sulfinpyrazone). MRP5 may also transport organic anions with the anionic moiety of phosphate/phosphonate group, a function which provides the ability to resist against anti cancer drugs 6-MP and thioguanine as well as the anti-HIV drug PMEA.
