Description: Organic liquid thermometer features a U-shaped tube mounted on a plastic casing with metal floats at the top of each column.

Supplier: Adipogen
Description: For application to living cells, the diacetyl derivative of ZnAF-2F, ZnAF-2F DA, was synthesized. ZnAF-2F DA can permeate through the cell membrane, and is hydrolyzed by esterase in the cytosol to yield ZnAF-2F, which is retained in the cells. Using ZnAF-2F DA we could measure the changes of intracellular Zn2+ in cultured cells and hippocampal slices. Spectral data: lambdaex 492nm; lambdaem 515nm in PBS.

Supplier: Adipogen
Description: ZnAF-1F and ZnAF-2F do not fluoresce in the presence of other biologically important cations such as Ca2+ and Mg2+, and are insensitive to change of pH. The complexes with Zn2+ of previously developed ZnAFs, ZnAF-1, and ZnAF-2 decrease in fluorescence intensity below pH 7.0 owing to protonation of the phenolic hydroxyl group of fluorescein, whose pKa value is 6.2. On the other hand, the Zn2+ complexes of ZnAF-1F and ZnAF-2F emit stable fluorescence around neutral and slightly acidic conditions because the pKa values are shifted to 4.9 by substitution of electron-withdrawing fluorine at the ortho position of the phenolic hydroxyl group. Spectral data: lambdaex 492nm; lambdaem 517nm in PBS.

Catalog Number: (102902-018)
Supplier: Affymetrix, Inc.
Description: The monoclonal antibody 26-2F recognizes human angiogenin. Angiogenin is a secreted ribonuclease (RNASE)-family member and is important for the formation of new blood vessels as well as the stimulation of cell proliferation and survival. Cellular stress signals direct angiogenin to stress granules where angiogenin functions by hydrolyzing cellular tRNA resulting in modulation of protein translation and promotion of cell survival. Cytoplasmic angiogenin can bind to actin, forming complexes that activate protease cascades which can degrade laminin and fibronectin allowing endothelial cells to penetrate the basement membrane and migrate. In cancer cells, growth signals direct angiogenin translocation to the nucleus where binding of DNA promotor regions stimulates rRNA transcription resulting in a downstream increase in protein synthesis driving cell growth and survival. Angiogenin is upregulated in multiple cancers including breast, prostate, cervical, colorectal, lymphoma, and melanoma. During development and in adulthood, angiogenin is highly expressed in the spinal cord and contributes to motor neuron survival. Angiogenin is important for neuronal survival and is depleted in neurodegenerative diseases such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Parkinson's disease. This 26-2F antibody is reported to have both in vivo and in vitro neutralizing activity to angiogenin. Applications Reported: This 26-2F antibody has been reported for use in cytokine neutralization, immunoprecipitation, immunohistochemical staining of frozen tissue sections, immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue sections, ELISA, and immunocytochemistry. Applications Tested: This 26-2F antibody has been tested by immunohistochemistry of formalin-fixed paraffin embedded tissue using low or high pH antigen retrieval and can be used at less than or equal to 20 µg/mL. It is recommended that the antibody be carefully titrated for optimal performance in the assay of interest. Angiogenin (ANG or ANG I) is important for the process of neovascularization and formation of new blood vessels. ANG is similar to pancreatic ribonuclease A and functions as a tRNA-specific ribonuclease that abolishes protein synthesis by specifically hydrolyzing cellular tRNAs. It interacts with endothelial cell-surface actin and may cause changes in the cell cytoskeleton. ANG is thought to be involved in the development of solid tumors and its antagonists are capable of inhibiting tumor growth. Defects in ANG are the cause of susceptibility to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis type 9 (ALS9). Angiogenin is a genetic link between ALS and PD.

Supplier: Bioss
Description: The protein encoded by this gene is induced by environmental stress and developmental changes. The encoded protein is involved in stress resistance and actin organization and translocates from the cytoplasm to the nucleus upon stress induction. Defects in this gene are a cause of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type 2F (CMT2F) and distal hereditary motor neuropathy (dHMN). [provided by RefSeq, Oct 2008].
