Supplier: Adipogen
Description: NADPH-diaphorase substrate that competitively inhibits NOS (nitric oxide synthase). Well-known scavenger of superoxide anions. Dye that is used for detection of alkaline phosphatase in combination with 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indoxyl phosphate (BCIP). This substrate system produces an insoluble NBT diformazan end product that is blue in color and can be observed visually. When used with BCIP, it is suitable for detection of alkaline phosphatase in western blots, for immunohistological staining procedures and for colorimetric indication of bacterial infection in blood samples. Used as a redox indicator for enzymatic reactions including dehydrogenases, threonine deaminase, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, phosphofructokinase on polyacrylamide gels, oxidases on polyacrylamide gels and pentose shunt dehydrogenses. The NBT/BCIP reaction is also used for colorimetric/spectrophotometric activity assays of oxidoreductases. One application is in activity stains in gel electrophoresis, such as with the mitochondrial electron transport chain complexes.

Supplier: Li-Cor
Description: REVERT total protein stain is a membrane stain that fluoresces at 700 nm. This does not covalently modify sample proteins and therefore does not affect antibody binding or quantification. Total protein stain works with existing western blot workflow, without needing any additional reagents or special gels. Staining takes less than ten minutes and is compatible with both PVDF and nitrocellulose membranes.

Supplier: Affymetrix, Inc.
Description: HYB 211-01-02 is specific for human NGAL, native and denatured forms. No cross-reaction to NGAL from other species has been detected.  HYB 211-01-02 has been successfully used in Western blotting, ELISA and Immunohistochemistry procedures. HYB 211-01-02 reacts strongly with NGAL. Strong reaction is seen when tested in sandwich ELISA in combination with a polyclonal antibody against the antigen. In immunohistochemical staining of paraformaldehyde fixed neutrophils HYB 211-01-02 recognizes NGAL. In western blotting HYB 211-01-02 reacts with NGAL in both reduced as well as unreduced form. The HYB 211-01-02 immunogen is recombinant human NGAL in monomer and dimer forms absorbed to aluminium hydroxide gel. The epitope specificity of HYB 211-01-02 differs from that of HYB 211-05-02, and differs from HYB 211-02-02 but overlaps. Neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin is a member of the lipocalin family which encompass more than 25 members (including proteins like retinol binding protein, a1-microglobulin, b-lactoglobulin, apolipoprotein D, odorant binding protein). The members of the lipocalin family are characterized by their ability to bind small lipophilic substances in their hydrophobic core, and thereby serve as transporters of substances.
