Description: Myosin phosphatase target subunit 1, which is also called the myosin-binding subunit of myosin phosphatase, is one of the subunits of myosin phosphatase. Myosin phosphatase regulates the interaction of actin and myosin downstream of the guanosine triphosphatase Rho. The small guanosine triphosphatase Rho is implicated in myosin light chain (MLC) phosphorylation, which results in contraction of smooth muscle and interaction of actin and myosin in nonmuscle cells. The guanosine triphosphate(GTP)-bound, active form of RhoA (GTP.RhoA) specifically interacted with the myosin-binding subunit (MBS) of myosin phosphatase, which regulates the extent of phosphorylation of MLC. Rho-associated kinase (Rho-kinase), which is activated by GTP. RhoA, phosphorylated MBS and consequently inactivated myosin phosphatase. Overexpression of RhoA or activated RhoA in NIH 3T3 cells increased phosphorylation of MBS and MLC. Thus, Rho appears to inhibit myosin phosphatase through the action of Rho-kinase. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

Supplier: Genetex
Description: Rabbit Polyclonal antibody to GABRR2 (gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptor, rho 2)

Catalog Number: (10430-506)
Supplier: Bioss
Description: GTPase activator for the Rho-type GTPases by converting them to an inactive GDP-bound state. Has strong activity toward RHOA, and weaker activity toward RAC1 and CDC42. May act as a specific effector of RAP2A to regulate Rho. In concert with RASIP1, suppresses RhoA signaling and dampens ROCK and MYH9 activities in endothelial cells and plays an essential role in blood vessel tubulogenesis.

Description: Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors are pentameric membrane proteins that operate GABA-gated chloride channels and inhibit neurotransmission in the central nervous system. The rho receptor subunits do not exhibit sensitivity to typical GABA receptor modulators such as bicuculline, hexobarbital, and diazepam. While the rho 1 subunit localizes specifically to the retina, rho 2 expresses in all regions of the brain, though levels were still highest in the retina, implying a role for both subunits in visual pathways.

Description: Rho GTPases play a fundamental role in numerous cellular processes that are initiated by extracellular stimuli that work through G protein coupled receptors. The encoded protein may form a complex with G proteins and stimulate Rho-dependent signals. This protein is observed to form myeloid/lymphoid fusion partner in acute myeloid leukemia (from EntrezGene). LARG has also been implicated in linking heterotrimeric G proteins to microtubule organisation in regulation of cell polarity.

Description: This gene is part of the family of Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factors. Members of this family activate Rho proteins by catalyzing the exchange of GDP for GTP. The protein encoded by this gene interacts with RhoA within the cell nucleus and may play a role in repairing DNA damage after ionizing radiation. Pseudogenes of this gene are located on the long arms of chromosomes 1, 7 and 18. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants that encode different protein isoforms.

Description: Rho GTPases control a variety of cellular processes. There are 3 subtypes of Rho GTPases in the Ras superfamily of small G proteins: RHO, RAC and CDC42. GTPase-activating proteins (GAPs) bind activated forms of Rho GTPases and stimulate GTP hydrolysis. Through this catalytic function, Rho GAPs negatively regulate Rho-mediated signals. GAPs may also serve as effector molecules and play a role in signaling downstream of Rho and other Ras-like GTPases.

Description: GEF-H1 is a Rho guanine nucleotide exchange factor that localizes to microtubules and regulates Rho activity in response to microtubule destabilization (loss of interaction between GEF-H1 and microtubules leads to activation of Rho). This protein has also been shown to localize to tight junctions and modulate polarized cell permeability.
