Raffinose, Pentahydrate, is found naturally in vegetables and whole grains. It is a trisaccharide made up from galactose, glucose and fructose. Raffinose can be used as a base substance for sucralose. It is also used during cryo-preservation procedures to provide hypertonicity for cell desiccation before freezing.
