Pentane, Reagent is a straight chain hydrocarbon with five carbon atoms. It is a colorless, nonflammable liquid that has a strong hydrocarbon odor. It is a component in fuels and it is also used as a solvent in laboratories. It has very similar properties to butanes and hexanes.
