Maltose, Powder, Reagent, is also referred to as maltbiose or malt sugar. Maltose is a disaccharide that occurs naturally in germinating seeds, when the seed breaks down starch to use as nutrient. It can also be obtained from caramelizing glucose. It is often used as a sweetener and preservative as well being used in the production of beer. Its reagent grade means this is the highest quality commercially available for this chemical and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
