Lauric Acid, Reagent, also known as dodecanoic acid, is a medium chain fatty acid that has a vague smell of soap and is a powder. It is found naturally in human breast milk as well as cow's and goat's milk. It is generally used to produce cosmetic products but is also used in the laboratory to obtain the molar mass of substances. Its reagent grade means this is the highest quality commercially available for this chemical and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.
