Methanol, Absolute, Reagent, ACS, is also called methyl alcohol or 'wood alcohol' it was one of the by products of distillation of wood. As the simplest alcohol around, it is light, flammable, colorless liquid with a strong and distinctive odor. It has many uses including acting as an antifreeze, (due to it's polar liquid properties), solvent, fuel as well as a denaturant for ethanol. As an ACS grade Reagent, Spectrum Chemical manufactured methanol is used as the quality standard against which other substances are graded and has met the toughest regulatory standards for quality and pureness
