The two subunits form an extremely stable heterodidecameric structure, even in the absence of divalent cations. The arrangement of the subunits contains diverse repeated antigenic structures that elicit a strong immune reaction from B and T lymphocytes. This carrier protein can be used in any application requiring flexibility in the choice of buffer and pH.
