CHAPSO is the hydroxy analog of CHAPS; a non-denaturing zwitterionic detergent for solubilizing proteins, especially integral membrane proteins while maintaining the functional capability of the protein of interest.

  • Useful for the solubilization of integral membrane proteins
  • Critical micelle concentration (CMC): 8 mM
  • Aggregation Number: 11

It has a more polar head group than CHAPS, giving it a greater solubility. CHAPSO has a high CMC (8 mM) and does not denature membrane-bound proteins. It can solubilise the opiate receptor in a state exhibiting reversible binding of opiates.

A nondenaturing zwitterionic detergent with characteristics similar to CHAPS, although it is more soluble due to a more polar head group. Useful for the solubilization of integral membrane proteins.

Soluble in water (100 mg/mL - clear, colorless to slight yellowish solution), methanol (40 mg/mL- clear, colorless solution).
