Tubing Peristaltic Pump Tubing
Agilent offers a range of ICP-MS peristaltic pump tubing, in suitable materials for your application.

  • PVC tubing is the general purpose or standard tubing used for sample introduction and internal standard (ISTD) uptake
  • PVC tubing can be used for almost all aqueous reagents used in ICP-MS including HF
  • Lifetime of the PVC tubing is about one to two weeks when 1% HNO3 is analyzed
  • Shorter lifetimes result when higher acid concentration are used for analyzes, or when the pressure on the peristaltic pump pressure bar is increased
  • Ismaprene tubing is good for almost all reagents and has about a 10 times longer lifetime compared to PVC
  • Fluran tubing is recommended for xylene analysis with yellow/blue tabs (1.52 mm Int.Ø)

However, it has many impurities so it is routinely recommended for the spray chamber drain to achieve efficient waste removal for a long time. The blue/orange PVC tube (0.25 mm Int.Ø) is used for online addition of internal standard solution. For high matrix samples to achieve 1:1 dilution online with ISTD we recommend black/black PVC (0.76 mm Int.Ø) tubing

Agilent provides a range of peristaltic pump tubing for ICP-MS, in suitable materials for your sample and matrix. This includes robust long-life drain tubing and high purity uptake tubing. Including materials such as PVC, SolvaFlex and Ismaprene to meet your application needs including aqueous, organic solvent or HF resistance.

The Agilent ICP-MS features an on-board peristaltic pump that controls the flow of solution into and waste out of the sample introduction system. Using a peristaltic pump to assist sample introduction reduces the variation in uptake flow rate due to variation in physical properties of the solutions being introduced.
