MethElute™ Reagent
Supplier: Thermo Scientific
MethElute™ Reagent (TMPAH) ideally suits for the quantitative methylation and detection of barbiturates, sedatives, xanthine bases, phenolic alkaloids, and phenytoin, giving a single quantitative peak for each substance.
- Highly precise, with coefficient of variation of 5% or less
- High sensitivity
- Barbiturates detected down to 0.2 mg/dl
- Accuracy is similar or better than the UV/TLC method
When the reagent is heated with drug-containing extracts, serum, or urine the drugs containing reactive amino, hydroxyl, and carboxyl functions will be methylated at the reactive sites. Accuracy comparable or better than the UV/TLC method (GC is superior to UV/TLC when phenobarbitol and phenytoin present).
Hazards: Flammable, toxic.
Standard components: Trimethylanilinium hydroxide in methanol
Standard concentration: 0.2 M
Precaución: For research use only. Not for use in diagnostic procedures.
