Doxycycline hyclate is a synthetic oxytetracycline derivative

It can be used to eliminate Borrelia burgdorferi and Anaplasma phagocytophilum in rodent reservoirs and to eliminate Ixodes scapularis ticks and also to inhibit matrix metalloproteinases and inflammatory response to the Lyme disease Spirochete Borrelia burgdorfer.
