Sucrose Octaacetate, NF is FDA approved for use as an food additive, Its bitter taste makes it ideal as a bitterant and aversive agent. It is used in pharmaceutical product containing ethanol to denature the ethanol and is industrially used as an ingredient in herbicides in an inert form.
