DL-Menthol, Crystal, USP is used as a minor local anesthetic and counterirritant, especially for minor throat irritation. Menthol is derived from cornmint, peppermint or other mint oils and is waxy, crystalline, and clear or white in color. This grade of menthol is also used in mouthwash, toothpaste, cigarettes, decongestants, chewing gum, candy, lip balms, and cough medicines. All products that are consumed in drugs, food, personal care or cosmetic products, including all USP menthol products are manufactured, packaged and stored under current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) per 21CFR part 211 in FDA registered and inspected facilities.
