EM-400® Embedding Medium is a blend of purified paraffin with synthetic polymers that enables sectioning with minimal compression.

  • Blend of purified paraffin and synthetic polymers
  • Section samples with minimal compression
  • Enables thorough impregnation of all types of tissue specimens

The medium can facilitate routine sectioning at 1–2 microns on a rotary microtome

Blue Ribbon is a universal paraffin containing synthetic polymers that can be used both as an infiltration and embedding medium. The paraffin enables the impregnation of tissue to occur rapidly and completely. The low melting point (56–57°C, water bath temperature: 37–42°C) means it is highly recommended for use with immunoperoxidase procedures. The wax however will remain stable even at elevated temperatures. It is supplied in a case of ten 0.91kg (2lb.) lightweight bags to facilitate handling. The bluish tint promotes better visibility of smaller or milky-colored/opaque specimens. Popular with Dermatology and Urology Labs.

Tissue Infiltration Medium is a special formulation of purified paraffin and plastic polymers for infiltration or embedding. Thorough impregnation of all types of tissue specimens can be achieved with either open or closed automatic processor systems. This medium can be used in conjunction with EM-400 Embedding Medium. It is stable and will not break down or separate at low or high temperatures. Supplied in 0.91kg (2lb.) bags. Melting Point is 56–57°C. Water Bath Temperature is 45–50°C.

Formula 'R'® is a next generation paraffin that enables thin sectioning with minimal compression and all around ease of use. Formula 'R'® is a semi-transparent compound which can be used both as an infiltration and embedding medium. It has a low melting point (56–57°C, water bath temperature: 45–50°C) and is available in two packaging options, an 0.91kg (2lb.) poly bag or 2kg (4.5lb.) jug. The perforated poly bag is easy to pour and takes up minimal space. The resealable wide mouth plastic jug facilitates pouring as well as disposing of the used paraffin. Jug may also be rinsed and reused for other purposes. Formula 'R'® provides added structural support for thin sections and denser tissue, and is typically used for animal tissue research.
