Hexane is used in laboratory to extract oil and grease contaminants from water and soil for analysis. Used as a solvent to extract edible oils from seed and vegetable crops. Commercial grades of hexane are used as solvents for glues, varnishes, and inks, cleaning agent (degreaser) in the printing industry, liquid in low temperature thermometers. other uses are as fuels and fuel additives, intermediates and laboratory chemicals.
