Sesame oil, colourless oil

Sesame oil is a potent antioxidant, which can inhibit DNA damage and lipid peroxidation by 4-Nitroquinoline N-oxide in rats.
Studies indicate that Sesame oil can increase wound healing in SKH1 mice when added together with ozone. It is known that Sesame oil is composed of triacylglycerols encapsulated by a monolayer of phospholipids which is then covered by the proteins oleosin, caleosin and steroleosin. Furthermore, this compound is a great research tool for reversing and preventing oxidative damage on cells and tissues.
Sesame oil used in research applications as delivery vehicle for fat-soluble compounds including steroidal hormones and toxins. Sesame oil has antioxidant properties and was shown to protect against lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-stimulated oxidative stress in animal models.
Soluble in chloroform, ether, petroleum ether, carbon disulphide; slightly soluble in alcohol; insoluble in water.
