Mannose is a sugar monomer of the aldohexose series of carbohydrates.
D-(+)-Mannose, a C-2 epimer of D-glucose, is used in the formation of glycan structure and glycosylation. D-Mannose has been used in a study to assess the synthesis of a family of amphiphilic glycopolymers. It has also been used in a study to investigate the early detection of bronchiolitis obliterans after lung transplantation.
Soluble in water (50 g/ml - clear colorless solution).
Mannose is a sugar monomer of the aldohexose series of carbohydrates. Mannose is a C-2 epimer of glucose. Mannose is important in human metabolism, especially in the glycosylation of certain proteins. Several congenital disorders of glycosylation are associated with mutations in enzymes involved in mannose metabolism
